The fishing spot, as I described in the previous series of articles, offers many attractive landscapes. The isolation and tranquility of this place gives us the opportunity to take a break from the everyday turmoil. This pause kind of puts time in slow motion that allows me to observe the scenery and all it’s facets.
This diversity comes in many forms: sunsets, the flow of clouds in different shapes and views overlooking the lake. It seems that year after year, the sky is reinventing itself and the colors are enriched with different shades and degraded colors. Obviously, since I love this place, it’s easy for me to enjoy it and speak of it’s virtues! The photo on the left shows a morning mist since at this time of year, the weather was not too lenient. It was a bit warm during the day but the temperature dropped considerably overnight, unlike previous years.
Despite the uncooperative weather, we did not experience major periods of rain, only a few cloudy days during when the clouds have paraded in different vortices. This photo was taken during one of those cloudy days and at some point, the sky cleared a bit to open a “blue hole”, while creating a vortex above the island.
Then, there was that day where the sky cleared almost completely with fairly strong winds. Since the wave were still sweeping the end of the bay in the evening, I took the opportunity to make a long exposure. The quay was an obstacle to the waves, giving the contrast surfaces. Not easy to photograph when the water level is high enough to the point of almost filling your boots (while the mosquitoes are having a field day!). My friend took the opportunity to take my picture while I was struggling with mosquitoes! 🙂
There were a few days of slow fishing because they weren’t at the rendezvous. We had covered a lot of “ground” to try to find them. So I thought of filling time in an expedition on a rocky
cape to capture the sunset. If I didn’t catch any fish then at least I would catch some sunsets…! With my experience of becoming food for mosquitoes on
the previous day, I decided to wear my rain suit, work gloves, baseball cap with a fly net over it. I walked the rocky cape and made some photos but quickly discover that this affordable rain suit’s respiratory quality was equal to its price: I was swimming in sweat inside … I had to expedite my photo session to go wring my soaked cloths! At least I had fun and made a relatively attractive pictures.
All good things comes to an end and we had to think about returning to the big city. Not without regrets, we left behind a wonderful week full of interesting events (and wonderful pictures for me!). I’m still confident that next year will be an appointment where I will enjoy the landscapes and peaceful nature.
P.S. Did I say that I’v seen a comet during our stay … here it is: the comet of the woods 🙂
