I was photographing a hay trailer when I noticed that the sky was clearing, letting the sun peak underneath. It was a subject I had found on the road in the area of Lacolle. When I realized the magnitude of the situation, panic moved in! I knew what was going to happen: a phenomenon of “after rain” when the sky either turns orange or light up underneath with a red color. I had not foreseen this course. As I had not often visited the area for photography, I had not marked point of interest in regards of sunsets.
While driving frantically, muttering “shit, shit, shit”, desperately seeking a backlit subject that would be interesting, I found myself on a gravel road in Hemmingford contemplating the unfolding of my disaster…
If only I had done research beforehand, I might have had a chance! Nevertheless, it was a beautiful sight to watch: the sky in fire which then turned purple.
