When an image forms in your head and you are looking for a way to execute it, it becomes annoying to see the time go by and not know how to do it.
It had been a few weeks since I was seeing these cranes downtown and I thought I had to find a way to make the picture I had in mind. I watched the scenery every time I went by in the bus and looked for a place I could photograph them.
Then, one day, the right conditions came up: it was a setting sun, I was sitting on the bus and I had my camera ready for action! I only had a few seconds to take the picture considering that we were traveling. In fact, the view I had of the bus was probably the best I could have: this part of downtown (Griffintown) is separated by the Bonaventure Expressway, which is elevated at this point. To have an acceptable point of view, I would have had to find myself on the grain silos on the other side of the highway; I do not think that having been on the ground would have given the same result.
In short, the burst mode set, I waited for the moment when the buildings began to scroll through the window. The sun was at a perfect height allowing me to hide it behind the buildings.
Once at home, I chose to make the picture in a silhouette to show the frenzy of the development of this neighborhood: the dance of cranes!
