In the land of Smurfs

During my visit at friend’s cottages, we walked a small trail. Nature was beautiful and I found some interesting things to photograph. Among others, these mushrooms in the middle of the path.

I liked the colors that contrasted with the dark and brown side of the trail. These colors may not be complementary if I rely on the color wheel but they are in the same range.

In a photo, I will try to bring out a contrast. This form of expression makes it possible to highlight a subject, whether by color, size, brightness, etc. Contrast isolates a subject and gives strength to a picture. This photo has at least some contrasts: the dull side of the trail with the colors of the mushrooms, the fact that they are isolated in the path and finally the brightness (well, all right, it’s still close to the contrast colours!)

Taking my poses, I could not help but think that these mushrooms could represent Smurfs’ houses whereas I had to be the big Gargamel with my camera. Fortunately, I had no intention of catching these little guys!
