That night at the beginning of June, the weather was a mixt of cloud and rain. I wanted to make a picture that reflected the gloomy atmosphere. I stumbled on this cross located on a hill, Van Vliet Street in Lacolle, almost to the intersection of 1ère rue and 16th Avenue. I had caught a glimpse while driving by. Those who are familiar with the area, know that this is a narrow street without much shoulder, so not really easy to park the car.
So I parked my car a little further on the 1ère rue and I walked back. Camera on shoulder, tripod in hand, on a Wednesday night around 21:00, no problems it’s going to be quiet… Mistake: my camera tripod combination served as a magnet for traffic! I had to somehow try to keep myself on the thin edge of the street, it plunged about 45 centimeters after the end of the pavement; I wanted to keep the elevated view I had on the edge of the road. It was the dance of “snap photo-car arrives-move over and start again! At least I got the image I wanted.
Small detail: the cross is actually an old rope clothesline pole!
