An early outting

Sunrise rails-WebI love the fall season for several reasons: the leaves change colors, the cooler temperatures (indicator that snow is coming – finally, the winter sports !!!) and because the sun rises later 😉 This allows me to take pictures of sunrise without having to jump out of bed at 4:00 am…

That day of November 21st, the snow was slow to show up and I was in my photo motivation “depression” as it happens from time to time. Looking out the window while cursing the lack of snow, I noticed the presence of scattered clouds with clear sky remaining. Since I was already up, might as well take the opportunity to go out for pictures! I picked up my gear and headed towards the downtown of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu. I chose to walk in the area of the railway bridge.

I composed the image by placing my camera low to the ground in order to emphasise the state of decrepitude and have the tracks lead to the sunset. Then I took multiple exposures in order to combine them afterward. I chose the lowest ISO (100) with an aperture of f/11 while zooming out my lens to its widest angle or 17mm. The images were combined in Photomatix Pro and subsequently finalized in Lightroom.
