Craving for barns in the sun

Sunrise Ste-SabineIn early March, I had to wake up early. Once my task completed, I decided I could try to find a barn for a sunrise while I was up so early! It was winter but there was very little snow to testify about that fact… and it was very cold. I went anyway!

Obviously, I had made no preparation at all which normally improves the chances of success. But as I was craving for a photo of barns in the sun, I went to the area St-Alexandre / Ste-Sabine to see a barn that I had driven by before. Along the way, I noticed that barn at the corner of 9th and Kempt in Ste-Sabine. Once my pictures made at my first destination, I returned to the barn.

The sun was fast approaching on the horizon. I went in the front of the barn to have the sun in the background. The small amount of snow (actually it was ice!) left the plowing furrows visible. I found it interesting since it was bringing the eye towards the barn. I positioned the camera low to give a little more importance to the grooves and waited as the sun makes its appearance. Did I mention it was cold … As I often took off my gloves to handle the camera, I ended up freezing my hands properly. I drove a good ten minutes hand under the armpits to warm them up (one at a time of course!).

Funny fact, on the same day a friend photographer posted a photo of that same barn 🙂 It is obvious we share the same tastes and living in the same region, we get to photograph the same subject!
