Play in your own backyard

Saturday afternoon it was raining abundantly. An uninviting weather to go for a walk outside. Even less with a camera! Note that it is still an interesting time to make pictures since they come different, due to the conditions. On the other hand, I did not want to prepare “rain kit” for my camera.

So I watched the heavy rain through the patio door and saw the drops accumulates on the flowers. I figured I could still try to make pictures! I took my camera and installed my zoom lens 70-200mm.

I had 2 challenges: find a nice background to superimpose the flowers and a slow enough speed to see the raindrops. In the end, the cedar hedge was a good choice and at 1/60 was fast enough to show the movement of the rain and keep my lens steady. I had to be “Zen”: it took a good dose of deep breaths and calm expirations to steady the lens and avoid a blurry image: I was at 200mm…

It’s always fun to play in your own backyard!
