In this photo outing at Beauharnois’ marina with my friend, I photographed sailboats in the sunset and the surrounding landscape. Meanwhile, a couple had arrived and sat on the pier near the boat drop, facing the river.
My friend said (probably thing out loud) that it would make an interesting picture having the couple in the sunset. By then, it was wayyyy into the blue hour. That remark is probably what gave me the kick in the butt to summon my courage and go ask the persons if I could take their picture. They happily agreed !
I exposed for the light to make sure the couple would en up as a silhouette while keeping the beautiful colors of the sky. There was also another advantage: I wouldn’t need a model release to use the photo since the persons weren’t easily recognizable. Soooo, kudos to my friend for mentioning the couple because other then that, I wouldn’t have made the jump and ask ! 🙂
