The iPhone strikes again !

La ligne pointilléeIn my two previous articles (http://www.fromoven.com/i-should-have/ and http://www.fromoven.com/en/an-iphone-apps-to-circumvents-its-limits/) I mentioned how handy it was to have a camera with you even if it was an iPhone. The fact that I also an application to save the raw image sensor greatly helped to. But sometimes it happens that a picture arises in a fraction of seconds…

This is what happened to me last Friday when I went out to dinner with colleagues. We chose a restaurant on Sainte-Catherine Street in Montreal. At this time of year, the city begins preparations to close to traffic: the street becomes a great pedestrian walkway. It also decorated with garlands made of red balls of different sizes. Leaving the restaurant after lunch, the “magic” took place: walking and lost in my thoughts a small voice told me to stop. I threw a glance over my shoulder to notice the shadows created by the garlands. So I turned around while drawing my iPhone from its holster…!

I had only seconds to decide on the composition: asserting the shadows associated with the dotted line while trying to incorporate the pedestrian to add a human element making it less an abstract photo. I didn’t have time to choose my advanced photo application but it was clear in my mind that this photo would be black and white. The regular camera application would do!

So it IS possible to take a picture in broad daylight… The height of the sun was the best way to make these shadows and marking the street interesting.
